Mission Informatics: Smile Quarto Premium

Functionality & Features:Smile Quarto Premium from Mission Informatics is an accounting and inventory management software. Smile stands for Systematic Management of Information Leading to Empowerment. The premium tag does not mean to imply that there is a non-premium/low cost version available as well, it implies that it can be integrated into their own ERP product. Quarto Premium does contain the usual mix of features such as a built-in formula builder and report designer expected in any accounting package worth it's salt. However, the feature that appealed the most to jury member Govindarajan was VPN support.

We spoke to Austine from Elcare Systems, Ernakulam, who uses this software and this is the feedback he gave: “We use only a part of it for our inventory, for production workflow tasks. That part is going fine for work-order processing and production/finishing. For other purposes, we will consider other software. Nothing deficient as such with Quarto Premium, the product is fine but there are alternatives which are better suited for our industry.”

Technology: VB as front end and MySQL as backend

USP: The standout feature is VPN support

Impact: The jury formed a consensus that considering the large userbase of competing solutions such as Tally, a figure of only 30-40 organizations having moved to Quarto Premium does not put it high enough in terms of impact.
