Players may anticipate recognisable characters and "Kameo Fighters" to help them in combat, however specifics have not been revealed. The teaser film also shows that the game still has its trademark gruesome aspects.

Details for Mortal Kombat 1

The New Era, as established by Liu Kang's ascension to godhood in Mortal Kombat 11 in 2019, will be the setting for the new game. Like its ancestors, the game will incorporate a story mode, an elite program of characters, and another battling framework.

Ed Boon, chief creative officer of NetherRealm Studios and co-creator of Mortal Kombat, stated, "Mortal Kombat 1 marks a new beginning for the franchise, and we couldn't be more excited to share this original storyline and fresh take on classic characters with our fans."

NetherRealm has confirmed the Mortal Kombat 1 roster, which includes well-known characters like Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileena, Shang Tsung, Johnny Cage, and others. Kameo Fighters will provide assistance during fights.

Shang Tsung will be accessible as a preorder reward, and Johnny Enclosure will approach a Jean-Claude Van Damme skin through the Kombat Pack DLC. Johnny Enclosure is a "Kameo" warrior who can help players during a match.
