Recently, it was reported that Taneja left the Korean smartphone major due to wide unrest among the Indian hierarchy of Samsung and their Korean seniors and it seems Micromax is the biggest gainer from the entire episode. Over the years, Micromax has managed to become the second best mobile brand in the country, only below the Samsung which leads the market with close to 38% as per leading research reports and with Taneja at helm, the company could close down the gap further.

Apart from working with Samsung, Taneja has over 17 years of experience in the industry working with majors like Hindustan Lever, Nokia and Airtel among others. Bringing Taneja on board as the CEO enables Micromax to finally have a full-time head on board which was temporarily under the wing of Rahul Sharma, co-founder, Micromax.

"This move is a testimony to the vision and commitment that Micromax co-founders have of bringing in the best talent to build a strong organisation and capitalise the opportunities in this environment of data devices explosion," Micromax co-founder Rahul Sharma speaking to PTI.

The appointment will help the company consolidate its strong presence in the market, drive global partnerships and strategic alliances, while strengthening the organisational capabilities within Micromax, he added. The company has recently gone international and with Taneja at helm, things might come to order in the next 8 to 10 months.
