The Netcom HTTP interface card is an add-on card for selected Tata Liebert UPSs that lets you monitor the UPS’s performance over the intranet or the Web. The card can work with the S400, S7400 and S7400M models of Tata Liebert. It can be configured over a browser or by connecting it directly to the serial port of a PC and using an application like Hyperterminal. The configuration also involves setting a couple of DIP switches. The card needs an IP address of its own, and an Ethernet port to connect to. You can log on to the card by typing the IP address in your browser. You can give identification information so that monitoring multiple UPSs becomes easy.

Once online, you’re presented with a menu that lets you view current performance data as well as graphs of performance trends. You can also set up alerts that can be sent to the administrator, or you can send alarm traps to your network management software. Historical data can be saved on the card itself up to a maximum of 560

kB.

An applet shows you a graphical representation of the UPS in its current state as well as the performance data. Anybody can view the data by typing in the IP address in their browser, but to change basic settings and information, you require supervisory access, which is password protected. The card is priced at Rs 50,000.
