WhatsApp, a messaging service Meta owns, introduces a new calling button and context menu for iOS beta. According to WABetaInfo, users will notice a distinctive calling icon if the new feature is enabled on their application. Group participants can still use this new icon to make group calls, but it will now show a context menu where they can choose between an audio or video call.

Before the new update, an action sheet menu with those two options would show; now, a context menu would emerge instead.

The new calling option is already accessible to select beta testers who install the most recent WhatsApp beta for iOS through the TestFlight app, and additional users are anticipated to receive it in the upcoming weeks, according to the source. According to reports, the messaging service's 'companion mode' function, which enables users to attach an existing account to a second iOS device, was reportedly beginning to roll out to iPhone customers last week.

Users can connect up to four devices simultaneously with this capability, allowing them to attach more than two mobile phones to their WhatsApp accounts.

WhatsApp New Call Icon

This new call icon has been flowing out to select iOS beta users, so it should soon be available to everyone.

This follows reports that the iOS Settings area had been revamped and now includes quick links to the Profile, Privacy, and Contacts sections. Your display image (DP) will replace the section's tool-like symbol to provide a personalised touch. For those unaware, the Meta-owned messaging service is now testing an updated Settings page for Android users. A new bottom navigation bar that resembles the iOS app's design is also planned.

The goal is to retain consistency in design across platforms, making it much easier and more convenient for users to migrate from Android to iOS or vice versa. Meanwhile, a new keyboard UI with a new emoji option bar is anticipated for WhatsApp for Android. Additionally, iPad will soon offer a device linking option that wasn't available.

Conclusion

We have a lot of plans, and as WhatsApp has a history of releasing new features frequently, we anticipate these improvements to occur relatively soon. Stay tuned for more information, and feel free to comment below with your opinions.
