This new move will restrict the data sharing. At the time of authentication, Virtual ID will end any need to share your Aadhaar number. Instead, it will create a random 16-digit code which will authenticate your ID. Using this, tracking the real Aadhaar no won’t be possible, means stronger security to your privacy.

The new system will be adopted by all the agencies by 1 June 2018.

The new two-layer security will limit the KYC facility and agencies won’t be able to store your Aadhaar number. This will enable agencies to do their KYC without your Aadhaar number but using the users with tokens.
