New Update

This sleek Internet appliance running Windows CE has a host of applications for doing Internet related and regular productivity work. You can surf the Net, download and operate your e-mail, chat, or listen to MP3s from the Web. For regular productivity work, it has a built-in Word processor (Pocket Word), a Personal Information Manager, and an image viewer. What’s more interesting is its multilingual support for e-mail and Word.

The appliance connects to the Net over dial-up using its built-in 56K modem or broadband using its built-in Ethernet port. We really liked its simplicity. Plug-in a monitor, mouse, and keyboard; plug-in the power cable, push the power switch and the device is ready to roll. No lengthy boot-up or shutdown times. However, initial setup can be tedious because you have to reboot the machine after you have configured its Internet access settings. Here, even slight modifications require a reboot.

Being Windows CE, many applications are similar to their desktop Windows counterparts. For instance, Pocket Word is similar to MS Word, while the Web browser is a scaled down version of Internet Explorer 4.0. It supports HTML 4.0, so you won’t have problems while browsing any kind of Web page, be it with scripts, frames, or forms.
