New Update

Symantec comes up with its latest internet security suite with top performance and some new features. Some of the past releases of Norton had an issue of putting a toll on the system. But this time around, Norton team has worked upon it to minimize this effect.

Product installation is very simple. Dashboard has changed from last time but it is very similar to that of standalone antivirus suite. Upfront, you will notice four major tabs, displaying the status of system along with options to scan, update the system and do some advanced configuration. In the bottom-right, there are four small tabs which will connect you to various Norton's product and services. You can use them to get a mobile security QR code, the free Norton Zone file sharing tool. Another click will take you to Norton's online

management tool. If you have a Norton Backup account you can quickly connect with it. Lastly, the Norton family lets you to have parental control.

We used several test cases to evaluate the performance of different features of Norton. First, we tried to download eight EICAR files, which should be blocked by security suites. Norton blocked six of them and we managed to download two double compressed files. But on scanning them separately, Norton detected and removed the virus. 25 zero day malicious websites were tried to be opened in the browser, out of which Norton blocked 22. The Norton ISS completed the scanning our 250 MB test folder containing over 27,000 files in about 50 minutes. While scanning the system, Norton uses only 12 MB of physical memory.
