On Tuesday, the OnePlus 12 was released in China as the first smartphone to contain Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 CPU. It has a 2K LTPO AMOLED screen with a reported peak brightness of 4,500 nits. The OnePlus 12 phone has a 50-megapixel triple back camera array with Sony's sophisticated LYT-808 sensor and a 3x periscope telephoto camera. The OnePlus 12 has up to 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
Price and availability of the OnePlus 12
In China, the OnePlus 12 is priced at CNY 4,299 (about Rs. 50,700) for the base 12GB+256GB RAM and storage combination. Customers can also buy the handset in 16GB+512GB and 16GB+1TB variants for CNY 4,799 (about Rs. 56,600) and CNY 5,299 (approximately Rs. 62,500), respectively.
The most expensive variant, with 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, costs CNY 5,799 (about Rs. 68,400). The OnePlus 12 will be available for pre-order in China in Pale Green, Rock Black, and White colour options. The OnePlus 12 phone will be available in other markets, including India, in January 2024.
Specifications and features of the OnePlus 12
The dual-SIM (Nano) OnePlus 12 runs ColorOS 14, based on Android 14. It has a 6.82-inch quad-HD+ (1,440 x 3,168 pixel) LTPO OLED screen with a refresh rate of 1Hz to 120Hz and a peak brightness of 4,500 nits. The 4nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 CPU combines up to 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM in the company's flagship smartphone.
The OnePlus 12 has Hasselblad-tuned cameras, just like its predecessor. A 50-megapixel primary camera with a Sony LYT-808 sensor, optical image stabilisation (OIS), and an f/1.6 aperture is on the back, as is a 64-megapixel telephoto camera with OIS, 3x optical zoom, and an f/2.6 aperture. Finally, the OnePlus 12 phone has a 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with a 114-degree field view. The OnePlus 12 handset has a 32-megapixel camera with an f/2.4 aperture on the front for selfies and video chats.
The OnePlus 12 has up to 1TB of UFS 4 internal storage. The connectivity choices are 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. The OnePlus 12 phone includes a gyroscope, accelerometer, magnetometer, proximity sensor, and an under-display fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication.
It has a 5,400mAh battery and supports SuperVOOC charging at 100W, wireless charging at 50W, and reverse wireless charging at 10W. The OnePlus 12 is dust and splash-resistant, with an IP65 rating. According to the firm, it measures 164.3x75.8x9.15mm and weighs 220g.
