Panda Cloud Office Protection - Security Suite

Setting up and managing a network security setup is not an easy job, Plus, there are technical manpower availability and budgetry constraints as well. That's where a cloud based security can become a good choice, and we reviewed one from Panda Security. It's an anti-virus and firewall based solution for SMEs.

The solution allows an administrator to manage all security from a web console. There are two versions available for installation. You can either download the .msi file and install it on all desired PCs on your network, or you can download the distribution tool. The latter can install it remotely. You just have to ensure that Windows firewall is switched off, and file and printer sharing enabled in order for the installation to succeed.

We took the .msi route and managed to install it successfully on a few machines on our network. The process is extremely easy to do and only requires a few clicks. There's a web based management console that shows you the status of all machines you've installed it on, as well as machines you've not installed it on. It also checks incoming and outgoing mails for threats and has a firewall as well. Panda Cloud Office Protection is easy to install and consumes lesser resources, since most operations are done on the cloud. It is simple to use and its web interface allows you to control it from anywhere.

Bottomline: The solution saves significant amount of infrastructure costs and is worth considering for SMEs.
