Green IT @ SBI, Location: PAN India The scenario today in branch banking in SBI or for that matter in any other bank is that whenever the customers enter in the branch to deposit / withdraw funds from their Bank account, they have to fill in the paper-based deposit/withdrawal voucher/ticket and wait in the queue for their turn to come for transaction fulfillment. There is a large amount of paper wastage in the form of deposit/withdrawal vouchers/tickets. The Bank came up with a very innovative first of its kind technological solution “GREEN CHANNEL COUNTER” in order to conquer the above challenges. The goal of the project was to move towards Green Banking by bringing in reduction of usage of paper which in turn will lead to reduction in cutting of trees.
