Tata Teleservices Limited (TTSL) wanted to have the power to track the mobile products like handsets, recharge vouchers, etc. throughout their distribution channel. There were many business specific stock items that moved through the supply chain to distribution network across India. As different distributors used different systems to track the sales at the distribution points, which is a key input to TTSL to track the overall stock movement. Due to this it was difficult to have statistics regarding stocks at various distribution points as there was no uniform system, and data had to be consolidated manually from different formats.

To address these challenges, TTSL decided to use PULSE, which is a combination of Tally and a centralized back end system. Through this the Tally solution residing at distributor premises acts as a front end to distributors to support the inventory, sales and accounting requirements specific to TTSL and a centralized sales system provided the back end support integrated either by online or offline as per distributor choice. The implementation of this project has resulted in 100% efficiency of tracking the availability of the products across the supply chain till retailer point. Also the delay in knowing the stock position in the market across distribution points has been reduced from a time window of 3 days to instantaneous, which gives a definite competitive edge.
