A network-enabled compact monochrome laser printer designed for small and mid-sized workgroups. It can print at a maximum resolution of 2400x600 dpi and is compatible with all operating systems. It has a 333 MHz processor and 64 MB RAM which can be extended up to 320 MB. For setting up and configuring the printer, there's a 16 character single line monochrome display with a control panel which lets you change settings of the printer. The printer also supports auto duplex printing as well and has large paper capacity with its paper tray holding upto 250 sheets, apart from the 50 sheet multi-purpose feeder tray.
To test this printer, we installed it on the network on a system having Windows 7 with 1GB RAM. While installing you can also choose the USB port but there is no WiFi support. Before installing the printer, we assigned the IP address to the printer through the control panel given on the printer. When tested in normal mode, the printer took 7 seconds to print the first page. It took one minute to print 30 pages. However, in the duplex printing mode, it took two minutes to print the same set of 30 pages, while Dell D2330dn laser jet printer (reviewed in March' 2011) took 1 minute 50 seconds to print this set of 30 pages in duplex mode. The quality of the printouts was clear and crisp for text as well as images.
Bottomline:The printer is a decent buy for small workgroup requirements.
