While everyone eagerly awaits the launch of Samsung Galaxy S5 and Apple iPhone 6 among others for this year, Motorola has reportedly announced its intention to bring the much admired Moto G smartphone to Indian shores by end of this month.

This revelation was made by Motorola executive to TOI reporters on the sidelines of CES 2014 in Las Vegas which concluded earlier this month. "Right now our plan is to announce Moto G in India with a partner in the last week of January," Steve Sinclair, vice president of global marketing at Motorola Mobility was quoted saying in the report.

Moto G is the first hardware consumer device from the house of Motorola Mobility since it was bought by Google 2012 and with this smartphone the company will be making its comeback in the Indian smartphone arena.

Moto G has been postioned by Motorola as a product for the budget conscious and in the country the brand will closely compete with domestic brands like Micromax, Lava and Karbonn Mobiles among others.

"Moto G is meant for those consumers who want an iPhone or Galaxy S4 like experience but are averse to high spending or cannot afford the high end options." the report adds. For those who are not familiar with Moto G, the smartphone sports 4.5 inch display, packs quad-core chipset with 1 GB RAM, 5 MP rear and 1.3 MP front cameras and priced in the sub $200 range.

The Moto G could be priced anywhere between Rs 15,000 to Rs 19,000 in the country but the actual mark could become clearer in the coming weeks.
