Canon's Lide 700F brings in some interesting additions to the design and

features of its predecessor, the Lide 100 scanner.

The 700F retains the basic overall slim design and weighing 2.1Kg, the slim

scanner features a 3-way flip out stand that allows it to be used in either

portrait, landscape or vertical placement. This is extremely helpful, as the

scanner can be placed in different positions as per the space available for use.

There are 4 buttons on the front assigned for copy, scan, PDF and e-mail. It

comes with an accessory attachment that allows scanning of slide film. But it

can scan only one frame at a time.

Setup is very easy and the provided software is simple to use. In our

benchmarks the scanner took 48 seconds to do its first color scan at 150dpi

after startup. Once warmed up, it takes just 10 seconds to finish a color A4

scan. If you increase the resolution to 300dpi, it takes 11 seconds to finish

the scan and in grayscale scans, it took 13 seconds to finish the job.

The scan quality was fabulous with sharp details and rich colors. Thanks to

the 'Quick Automatic Retouching and Enhancement' technology of the scanner,

there were no signs of any dust particles visible in the scan. Overall, a great

option for both home and office users who need high quality scans.
