Do camcorders provide better video quality than a DSLR?

— Ritesh KA

DSLR provides a lot of options & settings. Photographers often spend 20-30 minutes setting up a shot to try and get the picture of a flower, landscape, etc. They do multiple exposures, change settings, repeat the shots and try to pick the best shot. In the hands of an experienced photographer, a DSLR can produce good videos because the person behind the camera has spent many hours playing, learning, making mistakes, etc to learn the settings & techniques for the camera and lens.  To test the settings, simply take a DSLR, add a rail system, digital audio recorder + microphone, a follow-focus rig and a small external monitor so you can see the shot from the front and get a good video. While the camcorder has a bunch of options, it has built in exposure adjustment (mid shot), white balance adjustment, anti-shake, built in auto focus (which a mirrored DSLR cannot do). So, the right tool for shooting videos for you is a camcorder.
