Realme 12 Series: To come with Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC, while 12 Pro+ May Boast a Periscope Zoom Camera

The Realme 11 series, powered by MediaTek Dimensity SoCs, was released in May of this year. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer could be preparing to introduce the new Realme 12 series of handsets. A Chinese leaker has divulged the essential specifications of the Realme 12, Realme 12 Pro, and Redmi 12 Pro+ before any official announcement. The future versions are said to be powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC, with the Realme 12 Pro+ sporting a periscope telephoto sensor with 3X optical zoom functionality.

A Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC will power the Realme 12 series

The Realme 12 series will be powered by a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC, according to Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station (translated from Chinese). The new mid-range 5G mobile chipset has a prime CPU speed of 2.63GHz, three performance cores running at up to 2.4GHz, and four efficiency cores running at 1.8GHz. The tipster reaffirmed his previous article, claiming that the Realme 12 Pro+ will include a 64-megapixel OmniVision OV64B periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. According to reports, the Realme 12 Pro would use a Sony IMX709 sensor with 2x optical zoom.

Previously, the source predicted that the Realme 12 series would launch in the mid-range smartphone category, with prices starting around CNY 2,000 (about Rs. 23,000).

In May, the Realme 11 series, which included the Realme 11, Realme 11 Pro, and Realme 11 Pro+, was revealed in China. The Pro models were released in India in the first week of June for Rs. 23,999 and Rs. 27,999, respectively. The vanilla variant was introduced in India in August, with a starting price of Rs. 18,999.
