Since Reliance Jio launch, it continuously manages to create a hype in the market for its free services. It has been offering completely free Internet and calling services to test its network. This free service supposed to end on December 31st, 2016.  But now according to the business paper Mint report, the JIO is planning to extend their free services till March 2017.

Reliance Jio's head of strategy and planning, Anshuman Thakur, said at a press conference on Thursday, "We have told Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and government that customers have faced issues with regard to the quality of service due to the interconnection congestion and they have not been able to enjoy the services that they deserve and what we want to deliver to them. And till we are in a position where we can deliver the quality of service as desired by the Jio management, it will be unfair to charge the customer." (source: Indiatoday)

This three-month free extension  might be a very good news for the Jio existing consumers getting free 4G internet and LTE calling. Though, some issues are there with Jio calling as operators such as Airtel, Vodafone, and Idea are , providing enough points of interconnect. But TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) has been pushing Airtel, Vodafone, and Idea to give interconnect points. Also, TRAI has imposed a penalty for not giving points of interconnect to JIO .  But still, we are not sure whether JIO is going to extend their free plans or not. Moreover, according to TRAI, a telecom operator cannot offer a plan with free services for more than 90 days.
