Repco Bank : Repco Genius

Repco Bank provides financial assistance to Self Help Group which consists of

only female members from different villages around Gudalur, Valparai & Coonur-Hill

areas. The problem faced by the members was commuting from their villages to the

bank as the transport facilities were insufficient and expensive. This is what

gave birth to the conceptualization of this project. The bank decided to provide

mobile banking facilities to SHG members and accordingly they acquired two Vans

with help from SIDBI. The Vans are equipped with all systems necessary for SHG

members to perform bank related tasks and loan payments.

The Bank has also introduced Repco Genius hand held device and connected it

with the core banking server using GPRS to update the data for EOD & BOD

operations. This allows the Daily Deposit Collector to give instant receipt at

the door step of the customer. They have also introduced the improved version

(Capable of Smart Card Reader with Wireless Technology) of Repco Genius for use

in mobile van which is working for the Self Help Group members. While admitting

the Self Help members, bank provides a smart card which contains all particulars

about the member such as name, specimen signature/thumb impression, etc. While

doing the transaction in the remote area, the RG reads the data stored in the

smart card & update the transactions in the smart card as well as in the CBS

server of the bank.
