The Brainwavz HM2 headphones are made of plastic with matte texture on it. The ear cups are made from leather and seem to be well cushioned. The headband is adjustable and headphones arms fold flat for easy storage. Even with unfolded arms it is quite compact.
Overall they are decent looking headphones with sturdy built and can last for years. Brainwavz is also backing them up by 24 month warranty. The headphones comes with two standard 1.2 meter detachable cables. One cable comes with mic, inline volume control to use with smart phones. What's different with other headphones and we liked here is the presence of slider button to raise volume instead of having a button. Thus just slide up/down with your finger to get the desired volume.
Performance
The 40 mm dynamic driver did put some great sound in the ears. On tracks with intense sub- bass content like Titanium by David Guetta which features dance club style beats, the headphone performed well pushing appreciable amount of bass. Sia’s vocals were clearly audible in between the bass of this electric pop song.
On track “Can’t Hold Us” by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, the drums, piano, whimsical handclaps all sounded pleasant making this melody truly entertaining to listen to. Overall the headphones has good bass thump and mids and lows are clear and fills in the right mix to give you a crisp audio output.
The padding on the headphones is sub-par, and causes a slight discomfort over a longer use. However a little extra touch of padding would have been appreciated.
The headphones sounded best at almost all volume levels without a hint of distortion, however it leaks a little sound to the outside environment.
