LG G4 Stylus Review: A phone that has wide screen,featuring a stylus and good battery backup

Elegant design with sharp display

It resembles the G4, the big brother in LG smartphone family. LG G4 Stylus is made from quality plastic back panel with matte finish and metal ring at the edges. It has volume controls and power buttons on its backside, which has become a patent design principle for LG smartphones. The phone has a stylus pen that’s drilled into the upper right corner of the phone. The matte finish gives you a good grip but it feels a bit bulky with 163g weight.

One of the best features of this phone is its great 5.7 inches IPS display, which has 258 ppi pixel density but it is sharp and shows true colours. The smartphone display has a 720p resolution, so you'll notice small pixelation with text, icons and images. However, the slow UI shows when opening an app or even basic functionality.

Average camera 

Surprisingly LG G4 Stylus has an average camera but it has very few modes, like face beauty, HDR. Yes it has an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and 5 megapixel front-facing camera both can record 1080p video. And has a laser-guided auto-focus.

Pictures taken on its primary camera turn out not very detailed, overly smoothed and with dull colors. In low light the white balance gets disturbed and noise is clearly visible. The only good thing that saves this camera from total downfall is its highly effective laser autofocus. While zooming on an image, the shot becomes very dull.

The 5 MP front camera is decent with day light. In general, if you're looking for a camera that can take casual shots, this will satisfy you.

Performance and computing

Android Lollipop is the operating system, to which LG added its own Optimus UI software. Optimus UI includes some graphical changes to Lollipop, notably giving it a fairly colorful flat design. The notifications and shortcuts menu has been reworked to become more customizable than in stock Android. There's a multitasking feature that lets you open apps onscreen at once.

The included 4 inch stylus has a soft rubbery tip. The phone is a bit thinner in radius yet comfortable to use. LG's stylus doesn't have any smart features as we see in Samsung Galaxy Series, so it isn't sensitive to hand pressure; it's just a regular stylus that can select, swipe and drag.

With LG's signature QuickMemoplus app, you can type, write, doodle, draw, cut and copy. The app includes tools to make lists; change your brush style (to a pen, brush, highlighter or chalk piece) and switch out the stylus' color, transparency and sizes. You can also import media into your notes, like videos, pictures and screenshots as well as use the keyboard's write-to-text feature. A watered-down version of the QuickMemo is also available in G Stylus's pull-down menu, where you can also annotate notes directly onto the screen.

The phone has a loud voice output that's even clear in noisy areas. However, playing games like Asphalt 8 was not a smooth experience but Subway surfers, Candy Crush are easy to play on this device. LG G4 Stylus scores 21679 on Antutu, and 14200 on Quadrant benchmark.

Huge Battery life

Battery life is the second best feature after display which makes this phone a good option to buy. Its 3000 mAh battery make it long-lasting, with up to two days of standard use. The G4 Stylus lasted 9 hours of continuous video streaming battery test.
