Previously I reviewed Fossil Q Nate hybrid smartwatch and this time, I received Skagen Hagen Connected, again a hybrid smartwatch but with additional features that you will come to know as you will read the review.

Though, the market is filled with smartwatches but the problem is you have to touch the screen to know the current time or use gestures for the same, which a few might won't like to do. Thus the concept of hybrid watches came into picture. Surely you won't get all the benefits of smartwatch out of a hybrid watch, but companies like Skagen trying to enhance your experience with hybrid watches.

Danish company owned by Fossil is manufacturing Skagen connect. It looks better and lightweight in comparison with Fossil Q.

Fascinating Design

Connected is build smartly, it's neither too heavy in weight nor too large in size. The 42x42 mm case size, I think is pretty balanced and can be worn by anyone be it skinny or heavy. It is only 11 mm thick, thus won't feels bulky on hands. The timepiece I got was in rose gold color and brown leather straps.

On the right side, it has three buttons as like Fossil Q to operate the watch and control your smartphones as well. There is a second dial for different functions.

Simple to connect

You need Skagen Connected app, available on Android and iOS both platforms, and turn on your Bluetooth. When you open the app, it will guide you to pair the device with your mobile. Simply follow the steps you will be ready in a minute.

Once pairing is done, you can set-up second-time zone, alarm, notifications, sleep and other goals. If you are not happy with functions available with this app only, then it allows you to connect with other apps such as UA Record, Up By Jawbone and Google Fit.

Traditional watch with smart functions

It's a hybrid watch, so as I mentioned earlier you won't get all the functionality that can be expected from a smartwatch, but you won't be disappointed using it as it holds a lot of functions. In the second dial, you can see color coding, these are four - white, light grey, dark grey, and blue. For each, you can assign one contact stored on your phone. When the person will call, text or email you, the watch will notify you about that by moving and pointing to the corresponding color. Also, it will vibrate at the same time to grab your attention. However, it won't be that much useful as you need to remind the color code of that person as well as to accept or reject call, you need to use your phone only.

Another interesting part, you can set up second time zone if you are travelling to any other country. You can see the current date by pressing one button as well as set the alarm. The second dial also displays your activity progress about steps taken, sleep monitoring etc. Moreover, as you can connect it with Google Fit and other apps so you get the freedom to track many other activities.
