The TomTom Start 25 comes with a 5-inch touchscreen that enhances the legibility of GPS. TomTom’s maps feature all the monuments, chowks, parks or attractions that you would encounter along your way. You can easily search the nearest landmark and it will show you the route.
At the rear of the device, the on/off switch and a micro USB port are placed. Micro USB can be used for both charging and linking to a computer to download additional maps and software updates. The device comes with pre-loaded maps for 7,300 Indian cities and towns as well as it also speaks Hindi, English and 12 regional languages.
It allows you to personalise the maps with your own icons and names for the places that you frequently visit. It’s easy to save new locations and roads you would like to use. Its 3 layers of navigation technology: starting with the most up-to-date map, plus TomTom IQ Routes give you the quickest routes and most accurate arrival times.
The 3rd layer, TomTom Map Share, helps you avoid detours and get to your destination even faster. It also has 2D city maps of the top 16 Indian cities that display two-dimensional representations of detailed building footprints; town blocks, including sidewalks and water systems; and railway infrastructure.
Using the navigation with the device was quite easy, we were able to choose the destination and set-up the route. It was perfect while using on highways, but lags a little at some conventional streets. The touch re-
sponse of the GPS is slow, but the battery backup is impressive that lasted for about 2 hours in one full charge.
