Samsung Demonstrates the Next-Gen WiMax 2.0 Platform

Samsung Electronics unveiled its super high speed, next generation, Mobile WiMAX 2 based on IEEE 802.16m at the India Telecom Show at Pragati Maidan. It has already been designated by ITU-R as one of its Global Standards for 4G technology. WiMAX 2 based on IEEE 802.16m standard enables more efficient, faster, and more converged data communications. The technology promises to deliver 330 Mbps of Peak down load speed. Samsung demonstrated this by downloading 16 HD Video using 4 LFD and 3D HD video simultaneously using single 16m device. This is equivalent to 330Mbps download throughput. Samsung plans to commercialize 802.16m technology by end of 2011. It is expected that the demands for Wireless Broadband will exponentially grow. Mobile WiMAX opened up the era of Mobile broadband and is already a component of many optimized solutions in different parts of the world.
