Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: Potential Changes Include 10x Telephoto Omission, 100x Digital Zoom Retention

The Samsung Galaxy S24 series, which includes the —vanilla Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra —is set to launch early next year. While we haven't heard much about the following flagship lineup, a new leak says that the South Korean electronics giant will include an astounding 200-megapixel quad rear camera unit with support for 100x zoom capability on the Galaxy S24 Ultra. However, Samsung may reduce the device's 10x optical zoom to 5x. Furthermore, all versions in the Galaxy S24 lineup are believed to include new M13-based OLED panels.

Galaxy S24 Ultra: To include a quad back camera setup

On X, tipster RGcloudS (@RGcloudS) shared rumoured Galaxy S24 Ultra camera details. According to the report, the next phone will include a quad back camera setup led by a 200-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HP2SX sensor primary sensor with a 1/1.3-inch size. A 12-megapixel Sony IMX564 ultra-wide shooter, a 10-megapixel telephoto shooter with 3x optical zoom, and a 48-megapixel telephoto shooter with 5x visual zoom support could all be included in the back camera unit.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra features a 10-megapixel 3x telephoto camera and a 10-megapixel telephoto sensor with 10x optical zoom capability. According to the most recent report, Samsung will reduce the Galaxy S24 Ultra's 10x zoom capability to 5x. The 5x zoom would be comparable to Apple's iPhone 15 Pro Max. Despite the decrease, the future handset may retain the 100x digital zoom found in this year's model.

Galaxy S24 Ultra: Display Features

Furthermore, Revegnus (@Tech_Reve) claims that the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra will have new LTPO OLED M13 panels with 2,500 nits of peak brightness. The base Galaxy S24 is claimed to include the same display features as the Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra variants, with the main change being the display size and resolutions.

The Galaxy S24 series is expected to be released in January 2024 by Samsung. With the Galaxy S24 lineup, it might use newer, more robust Titanium frames instead of aluminium. Some Galaxy S24 variants are rumoured to employ the future Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, which will be released later this year. In other regions, Samsung may resort to using its own Exynos chips.
