Samsung, like Apple, has been easing off on innovation recently, not only with its wearables but also with its premium smartphones. The recently released Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 are all examples of high-quality performance and imaging advancements. Samsung has continued this trend with the Galaxy Watch 6 series for users of the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. A new chipset, larger displays (one with a rotating bezel), and more individualised health and fitness tracking.

There is little need to update the new models on paper, mainly since there is little new regarding its feature set. However, these tiny improvements have improved the Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic in several ways. And for upgraders who are unhappy with their current smartwatch or those seeking their first WearOS-powered smartwatch, it may be enough to justify purchasing the new models.

Price and variations of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic

There are two models in the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 series. The base model is named the Galaxy Watch 6, and it comes in 40mm and 44mm case sizes, the same as the previous Galaxy Watch 5. Bluetooth variants cost Rs. 29,999 and Rs. 32,999, respectively, while cellular variants cost Rs. 33,999 and Rs. 36,999.

Then there's the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, which also comes in 43mm and 47mm case sizes. Bluetooth variants cost Rs. 36,999 and Rs. 39,999, while cellular variants cost Rs. 40,999 and Rs. 43,999, respectively.

In terms of finish, Samsung's options continue to feel limited compared to what Apple offers. The Galaxy Watch 6 comes in Silver and Graphite cases, while the Galaxy Watch Classic comes in Silver and Black.

While there have been a few improvements over the previous model, there is little reason to go from a Galaxy Watch 5 to the new Galaxy Watch 6 unless you want improved software performance or slightly longer battery life.

Most of the software and hardware capabilities will also be available on last year's models via the One UI 5.0 upgrade, which Samsung already distributes in select areas. In the case of the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, things are different because it has a new design that is more appealing than the recycled one on the standard model.
