Features - The Company ditches android and uses Tizen for this smartwatch. The hybrid fitness band has a 1.84 inch Super AMOLED Curved display that offers vibrant colours. Texts are readable even in direct sunlight, when using "Outdoor Brightness" mode, but doesn't have ambient light sensor thus no auto-brightness setting is available. Display background can be changed when the device is synced with the Samsung smartphone or tablet. The fitness band sports Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy, an accelerometer and gyroscope. It is also IP67-certified as like the new Samsung Galaxy S5, meaning, the device is waterproof in up to a meter of water level for up to 30 minutes.

Body Design, Look and Build - The hybrid fitness band has heartbeat rate, pedometer sensors on the down-facing side and comes with an interchangeable wristband that allows colour swapping, though only six colours are presently available. With the slew of smart features, the smartwatch is comfortable enough to wear for long periods of time. The sporty design looks elegant. One physical home button is placed on the device that can also be used as shortcut to certain apps by double-press (requires customization). The charging port is placed on the downside, which uses a small dock with micro-USB port connecting the charger with the device. The dock is quite small in size and one more accessory to take around, which is easy to lose.

Basic Setup - The Gear Fit is easy to setup, just requires Samsung Galaxy phone or tablet with the Gear Fit app from the Samsung App Store. Galaxy phone or tablets are more compatible with the device and can be connected easily via Bluetooth. Once connected, one can change the background, notification settings, and clock design, etc. Once setup is done, it will automatically receive notifications (whichever you have selected) as well as allows you to reject the calls coming to the phone (can't accept).

Battery Life - Samsung has done slightly better than Galaxy Gear smartwatch. The Gear Fit battery delivers better performance in comparison with last year's Galaxy Gear smartwatch. With a full charge, it can easily run for two days, which is not a great performance but yes decent.

Comparing Fit with its successor sibling Galaxy Gear; it boasts a slew of features and looks smart. Other devices such as Fitbit Flex and Jawbone UP also offering the similar or better features at the lower cost, but the only and major difference is they don't have a display. Gear Fit is alone capable to show the results without pairing it with Galaxy device while others require a smartphone's display.
