New Update

This software offers file, directory, system and network security for small offices. Its installation is straightforward and it comes with a detailed help file. It first creates an administrative user with a login ID and password, who has complete access to all tasks of software. Its interface is very user-friendly. All functions are icons on a common toolbar, and there’s a drop-down menu for the same as well. You can also customize it by changing the background and add/remove from the toolbar.

InfoLock can encrypt files and directories. An encrypted file is created with a case-sensitive 20-character long password, using SVVML encryption technique. This can encrypt a piece of text to any possible combination value, which can randomly change along with its position in the file. You can encrypt from within Explorer by installing a utility called I-Wizard in the software. All kinds of files can be encrypted and decrypted and because encrypted files are not visible, snoopers (any user for that matter) can’t see them. Encrypted files can be packaged into a self-decrypting exe.

Files can be split by size and number up to 999 parts. You can set file and directory attributes to hidden, read only, system etc. Infolock also has a module called tweaks where you can set behaviors for the Start Menu, Display, System, Network, Miscellaneous and Run. In the Start Menu you can hide the documents folder, ‘find’ and ‘Shut Down.’ In System, you can hide password folders; prevent access to the Device Manager, printer deletions/additions folders and remote administration. You can hide the Network Neighborhood icon, prevent dial-ins and network access, file/printer sharing controls and network identification information. You can also disable registry-editing tools.

The Bottom Line. It’s a small and nifty utility for small offices who want some sort of network, system and file security.
