SK Hynix Starts Rolling out 24GB LPDDR5X RAM; OnePlus and Oppo Likely the First Ones to Get It

After starting LPDDR5X mass production in November 2022, SK Hynix has announced that it has started offering its clients the first 24-gigabyte (GB) Low Power Double Data Rate 5X (LPDDR5X) mobile DRAM package in the industry.

The 24GB LPDDR5X package can handle 68GB of data per second, which is comparable to downloading 13 FHD (Full-HD) movies in one second, according to the manufacturer. It runs in the ultra-low voltage range of 1.01 to 1.12V specified by the Joint Electron Device Engineering Council (JEDEC).

OPPO Marketing Director Louis Li said, "With the timely delivery of the 24GB LPDDR5X from SK Hynix, we were able to launch the first smartphone with the industry's highest capacity DRAM memory. This new smartphone allows customers to enjoy optimized multitasking environment as well as extended battery life."

Is Oneplus the first smartphone brand to have 24GB RAM?

SK Hynix has confirmed that the Oneplus Ace 2 Pro, which will be unveiled next week, will use SK Hynix's 24GB LPDDR5X package. As for the Ace 2 Pro's 24GB RAM, OnePlus said the phone will exclusively use in-house developed "genetic recombination of memory" and the first "global memory architecture" in the 24GB RAM variant.

"Memory Genetic Reengineering" technology is the most comprehensive reconstruction of the lowest layer of Android memory, which includes several core technologies. The 24GB version is also said to support 54 frequently used applications with the help of super-sized RAM and exclusive self-developed "self-genetic recombination" technology, and the company said it achieved a record of 41 frequently used applications open for 72 Hours. OnePlus also said that the Ace 2 Pro has also passed TÜV SÜD's 48-month smooth A-level certification, allowing customers to use it smoothly for more than 4 years.

Is there already a phone with 24 GB RAM?
