Like IBM’s NetVista and Acer’s Veriton, the Eleganza LP4100 is another PC that falls into the sleek and compact category, with its CPU and monitor forming one sleek unit.

Great for productivity applications and watching videos, this PC comes with a flat 15.1” TFT monitor that gives crisp and clear display. It supports a maximum resolution of 1024x768 pixels, and can be turned around by 270 degrees. The curvy base of the monitor houses the hard disk and power-supply unit.

The Eleganza has a 40 GB hard-disk drive (that’s upgradeable to 70 GB) and a Pentium 1.1 GHz processor that sits on a motherboard that’s fixed right behind the monitor. You get 128 MB SDRAM, which you can upgrade up to 1GB.

It comes with Linux and Star Office installed, while Windows XP Home Edition is available for Rs 4,000 and Windows Me for Rs 3,650.

On the left side of the monitor are a floppy-disk drive and a 24x CD-ROM drive. An optional 8x DVD-ROM drive is available at an extra cost of Rs 8,000 and a 24x6x6x CD-RW for Rs 17,000.

The Eleganza has a parallel, a serial, four USB (two in front and two at the rear) and two PS/2 ports. There’s an infrared port and a CRT port to connect another monitor. You also get on-board sound, a microphone, headphone jacks and a pair of 80W stereo speakers. A network card and a 56 kbps internal modem, too, are available. There are also two expansion slots to upgrade your PC when required. A FireWire port costs an extra Rs 1,800. The multimedia keyboard has two programmabe keys and the mouse is a three-button scroll one.
