New Update

SteamOS Beta is an early, first-look public release of Linux-based operating system. The base system draws from Debian 7, code named Debian Wheezy. It builds on top of the solid Debian core and optimizes it for a living room experience. Most of all, it is an open Linux platform that leaves you in full control. You can take charge of your system and install new software or content as you want.

Beta release is designed for developers and experienced Linux users; there is no easy-to-install ISO image - just a zipped file that needs to be decompressed onto a USB storage medium and a basic installer that will take over the computer's hard disk. SteamOS 1.0 is based on Debian GNU/Linux 7.0, but it ships with a newer kernel (3.10.11), proprietary graphics drivers (ATI 13.11 and NVIDIA 331.20), and a GNOME 3 desktop which must be manually enabled
