Google CEO Sundar Pichai is expected to announce various opportunities and Initiatives for SMBs on the January 4 event, “Digitally Unlocked”, which will also be presided by Union IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.

Googly will host an event “Digitally unlocked” on January 4, which is about upgrading skills and embracing technology to drive SME growth in India. The event will be spearheaded by Google CEO Sundar Pichar, Union IT minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, and VP and MD of Google South-East Asia, Rajan Anandan highlight the importance of India’s SMB ecosystem.

Rajan Anandan who is also a serial startup investor will highlight the importance of India’s SMB ecosystem. At the event, Pichai is expected to launch the Digital Unlocked platform, which is aimed at helping small and medium businesses.

The Google Invitation says, “Small and Medium Businesses are the backbone of the Indian economy and are powering the next wave of the country’s growth. At Google, we are excited about partnering with businesses to help them unlock exponential growth through the power of digital. We invite you to join Google CEO Sundar Pichai, and other senior leaders from Google as they shine spot light on how digital can be a game changer for Indian SMBs.”

Google’s event is taking place in Delhi and it looks like the focus will be around enterprises. Let’s not forget, Google has already announced a ‘Cloud region’ for India, which is expected to be up and running in 2017 and it will include multiple data-centres. In September, Google re-branded its cloud business geared towards enterprises as Google Cloud, and renamed Google Apps for Work as G Suite. G Suite include Gmail, Docs, Drive, Calendar, Hangouts, etc

The opening ceremony of the event will take place in Delhi where the main focus is to gear up the enterprises. In 2016, Google has already declared numerous digital initiatives in partnership with the Indian Government. The Indian Ministry of Consumer Affairs and Google recently announced a countrywide campaign “Digital Sage Consumer”, which is about to protect the consumer interests online. This is a yearlong campaign, which will provide training and information on online safety tools. Back in July, Google had also launched the Android Skilling Program to train 2 million developers in India. This year back in July, Google also unveiled ‘Android Skilling Program’ to train over 2 million developers in India.

At its annual Google for India event in 2016, the search giant had announced a special YouTube Go app for India, which allows for video downloads and sharing as well.  The app has yet to launch formally, reports The Indian Express TECH.
