TallyLocker

is a tiny storage device from Tally Solutions, designed to store all your

critical and confidential data. The device is actually intended to store all

your critical financial transactions, which you don’t feel comfortable leaving

on your system. It’s a plug-‘n’-play USB device, 5.7cm long that can store

data up to 16 MB, which roughly means 20,000 Tally transactions (four years

accounts of a standard company).

The device works like a tiny hard disk that can easily be

plugged into a free USB port on a laptop or PC. It maintains data directly on

it, just like a normal hard disk. A green LED indicator on the device indicates

that it’s working. It can also save any Windows file format. Being

lightweight, it’s easy to carry around.

Installing the device is child’s play. Just plug it in, and

a special icon called ‘Removable Disk’ appears in ‘My Computer’,

indicating the addition of a new disk. You can work on this disk like you do on

any floppy or a hard disk.

TallyLocker works closely with Tally accounting software,

making it easy to store financial data directly on it. The software has a

feature called TallyVault, which can encrypt and decrypt information on the fly,

making the data even safer. Another feature of Tally, called TallyAnywhere, you

maintain group accounts in different directories.

Priced at Rs 4,500, TallyLocker is available as a value-added

product for registered Tally users, where only one TallyLocker is given to each

user.
