Announced at WWDC 2015, Apple gave an eye-opening preview of all the new features coming to new Mac OS X called EL Capitan, its desktop operating system. Two big areas of focus for the new OS are experience and performance. Safari now allows you to pin sites in the tab bar just by dragging them to the left. There's a new Notes app as well as an improved Mission Control interface for better window management.
In regards to performance, Apple is claiming some numbers. Apps are cited to open 1.4 times faster in El Capitan. App switching is twice as fast, and PDF files open up four times faster in the Preview app. The public beta opens up in July, and El Capitan will arrive in its final version in the fall.
Major Features include :
1.Pining Tab to Safari
These are generally just bookmarks, but they're elegant and uncluttered. Pinning a website drops the web page with its logo on the far-left side of Safari's tab bar, thus you now don't need to manually enter URLs.
2.Better Window Management
Gone are the days when you have to manually resize two apps onto your screen when you're using a Mac, too. The new Split View mode, which is similar to Windows' Snap feature, lets you pick two apps and work with them, side by side, in full-screen mode.
3. Tidy Windows
The updated Mission Control Interface lets you display all your open windows cleanly with a simple swipe or move some of them to a new, clean desktop space thus giving you better window management.
4. All new Notes app
The updated app now allows you to add images, video, drawings, and maps to your Notes, create interactive checklists, and sync your notes across all your Apple devices.
5. Mute Tabs in Safari
The address now also lets users easily mute music-playing tabs without jumping to another tab. You can also mute all tabs without the need to touch the system volume.
6. Metal to Mac
Apple is also bringing Metal to the Mac, having first introduced it on iOS last year. This change with Metal will make developers to invest more time and resources into bringing their games to Apple's desktop platform. It uses OpenGL for graphics rendering, offering up to 40 percent greater rendering efficiency.
7. Spotlight Search
Spotlight search has been improved and now includes the ability to respond to queries in natural language, such as asking it to find "documents I worked on in June." and the search will find the applicable files. It can also search for information like weather and sports scores, features similar to those as in Microsoft's Windows 10.
8. Swiping Gestures in Mail
OS X EL Capitan now acts more like iOS in this feature. The new OS supports Swiping gestures wherein swiping right will mark you messages and to left will take the message to trash.
9. Enhanced Maps
The souped-up version of Maps is more easy to work for everyone who uses public transportation, including directions involving transfers and directions based on your target arrival time. You can also sync and get directions you generated on your Mac over to your iPhone.
10. Big Cursor
When the users will shake the cursor in El Capitan, it gets bigger, helping to find it when it goes missing.
