The first foldable phone from OnePlus is becoming an intriguing item. Following initial claims that it would be called the OnePlus V Fold, recent rumours labelled the foldable the OnePlus Open. Most of the foldable phone's specifications and leaked renders are already public, but we still need to learn more about the OnePlus Open. According to a new rumour, at least in form factor, the OnePlus Open will look similar to the Oppo Find N2.

The OnePlus Open is likely built on Oppo's latest foldable phone, the Find N2, according to frequent tipster Max Jambor, who has an excellent track record of sharing leaks on the OnePlus' foldable phone. That doesn't imply OnePlus is emulating the design of the Oppo Find N2 — though I don't see why it couldn't. Instead, it suggests that the OnePlus Open will use the form factor of the Find N2 while having its unique design. That suggests the OnePlus folding phone's proportions and overall feel will be comparable to the Oppo Find N2.

What is the resemblance between Oppo Find N2 and the OnePlus Open foldable phone?

That suggests the OnePlus Open will include a folding mechanism similar to a book. An outside and inside display that folds from the inside will be available. Several CAD renders and press pictures have given us a good idea of what the phone will look like. A small bezel on the screen's sides gives the smartphone a sleek appearance. The exterior and inner displays are designed with punch holes. The camera island is huge, but this is done intentionally to draw attention to the phone.

It makes sense for OnePlus and Oppo because the Find N2 is only available in China. Thus the OnePlus Open may be the brand's answer to foldable phones in other areas, such as India, where Oppo sells its flip phone, Find N2 Flip.

The tipster further stated that the OnePlus Open can compete with rivals and looks fantastic. He also stated that the OnePlus Open will have a periscope camera with 3x optical zoom and will be available in Black and Green.

OnePlus Open technical specifications

  • While the latest rumour does not mention specifications, we have previously reported that the OnePlus Open will sport a 6.3-inch AMOLED cover display with Full-HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 120Hz. The camera inside the display's punch-hole could include a 20MP sensor. The  OnePlus Open phone could have a 7.8-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 19002100 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz on the inside. The display's left-aligned punch-hole might house a 32MP camera.
  • Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 engine could power the  OnePlus Open foldable phone, which supports 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The foldable's rear cameras could have a 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor, a 48MP ultrawide sensor and a 64MP telephoto sensor. It may include a 4800mAh battery with 67W rapid charging capabilities.
