Transform Factory into Digital Factory with Integrated Plant Framework Solutionby Nijhum Rudra December 12, 2016 0 comments
Covacsis’ IPF solution makes manufacturing facilities deliver better financial return from the same assets and resources by providing real time analytics and decision making platform.
KEC International Limited is India’s manufacturer of electric power transmission towers and one of the Power Transmission Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) companies. It also provides telecom infrastructure services, tower testing, satellite and GPRS surveys, and hotline stringing services.
Bone of Contention
The requirement from KEC International was to track the total operation involved in producing bars of transmission towers. KEC by way of detailed analysis of understanding the operations required for different types of bar, aimed to better plan for production of bars based on production capacity, increase productivity, optimize operational cost, reduce downtime etc. “With the integration of all the machines and other management system onto one platform, KEC targeted to bring all its data on one platform and create an analytics engine to optimize the productivity output and minimize operational costs,” said Sudip Mazumdar, CIO, KEC International Ltd.
KEC adopted to choose Covacsi’s IPF (Integrated Plant Framework) solution, which is helping track key KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) by directly acquiring the data generated from machines and controllers. Tracking these key KPIs is helping the KEC team analyze run time, cycle time, availability and OEE of the machines in real time. Further having real time visibility, IPF triggers alerts and notifications to all designated key stakeholders when there is any deviation in the KPIs from the benchmarks.
“Covacsis’ IPF solution makes manufacturing facilities deliver better financial return from the same assets and resources by providing real time analytics and decision making platform. Our solution is agnostic to sectors and automation profile of manufacturers. Covacsis’ IPF transforms a factory into digital factory in less than 6 weeks without any capital expenditure. 50 out of top 100 companies in India are using Covacsis platform. Our partnership with Microsoft brings unique capabilities to our offering,” said Tarun Mishra, Founder & CEO, Covacsis Technologies.
Real time visibility (sample below) is helping KEC look at the variation in these KPIs over a period of time, thus highlighting the scope of improvement:
“Integrated Plant Framework (IPF) is state of the art digital platform capable of securely connecting machines and equipments, collect enormous amount of data and process it to provide meaningful insight to enable appropriate actions,” concluded Sudip Mazumdar, CIO, KEC International.
