User Query : Understanding specialty camcorders

Can sports camcorders be used for everyday recording as well? I was looking at the Sony - AS100 HD Action Cam.

The AS100 has a “normal” lens view of 120 degrees. There is a slight fisheye effect distortion (more noticeable looking at things far away). The 170 degree setting is very noticeable. This wideangle use in action cams is because there is not much expectation that you’ll be looking at the viewfinder. However, if you just point the lens in a general direction, you’ll get the action you want. The Canon HF R500 is a decent entry-level consumer camcorder - and would pair nicely with an action cam.
