Q-I want to use my additional Seagate momentous 5400rpm 500 GB SATA laptop HDD in place of desktop HDD in my PC as my existing 3.5” 160 GB HDD in PC, which is seven years old, is not working properly. It loses connection in between some operations and it also makes a lot of noise like some old tape recorder.

An SSD can work in place of your old HDD even on your desktop. Just connectivity options may differ from the old PC’s motherboard to the new SATA SSD, so please check that.
