Vasu Agarbathies didn't have an IT team who could decide on any BI solution.
The top management was analyzing the data by doing this in the excel sheets
earlier. The major challenge was to keep the multiple sets of Excel sheets /
files in different systems and collating these Excel files from different users
and locations and to create common reports. Apart from the Excel files they were
using, tally and the data has to be exported in Excel again and again to prepare
the reports manually by combining both the data. So, the requirement was to
reduce the time taken in collating the Excel files and better analysis of data,
and to give the top management a single truth of information. QlikView was
deployed for the sales team to replace all the Excel files & Tally usage and
create a common truth of information for all the users. The biggest challenge
for the deployment was that the employees, being addicted to the old fashion of
analyzing the data in Excel, the top management were not able to visualize the
kind of Analysis that were required for improving the business performance.
While creating the reports for the top management & to give them to the sales
persons at specific locations, they have to circulate all their respective files
to the head office in Mysore and would collate all the Excel sheets. The
deployment has allowed the top management to analyze the data effectively to
bring better performance. They improved business performance in terms of sales
and reduce the cost incurred. This also allowed them to analyze what are the new
locations where they can target the customers with respect to their Business.
One of the key outcomes of the project was that it has reduced the involvement
of business users for generation of reports to over 50%.
