Baramati is a tier 4 town in Pune District— underserved in terms of ICT
access to citizens and usage of IT to deliver access to urban benefits and
skills. This project by World Ahead Community has been implemented with the
objective of delivering benefits through technology-based solutions in areas
critical to socioeconomic growth: Education, Entrepreneurship, Women
Empowerment, Healthcare, e-governance. This implementation has been done along
with local partners and the local government.
Under these areas implementations like Remote Diagnostics at PHC at RUI,
which is a telehealth project, Mobile PC-Labs which have education content
covering 49 rural schools and the Intel Teach Program which trains teachers to
be more effective educators using technology have been made. There are also 200
computer training centres run by women entrepreneurs from local self help groups
where 10,000 women have been trained till now.
Industry partners (members of Intel's World Ahead Alliance) led by Intel
executed all projects in partnership with VIIT (Vidyaprathisthan Institute of
Information Technology).
