Vintron’s Karyo is a compact desktop targeted at business users.
Design
The Karyo can be kept horizontally or vertically. It comes with a 15” monitor (it is not sold without the monitor), mouse, speakers, and keyboard. The most distinguishing component out of these is probably the keyboard that has 132 keys. This is more than what most keyboards in PCQ Labs come with. The extra keys are for Audio CD controls (start, stop, fast forward, volume), cut, copy, paste, power, sleep and wake.

The motherboard is built on the VIA chipset and features one AMR, three PCI and an ISA slots. Its cabinet is thin, allowing only low-profile cards to fit into the slots. It comes with an internal modem for your connectivity needs. Most of the connectors, like for floppy and CD-ROM, are glued in place. Its onboard VIA Tech via8601 graphics card is not powerful enough for 3D games. The cabinet comes with a padlock.
The unit we received had a PIII/733 MHz, which is more than enough to satisfy any business user. It features a total of 64 MB SDRAM (upgradeable to 512 MB). After accounting for the onboard graphics, you are left with 56 MB, which is a bit on the low side. The computer also comes with a 52xCD drive, floppy drive, a 20 GB HDD, and onboard sound.
Performance
The Karyo scored 15.2 in Business Winstone 2001 and 14.2 in Content Creation Winstone 2001–below what most other systems scored. This is surprising considering its processor. For an office machine, one thing missing is a network card.
