New Update

Having anti-virus software alone isn’t important, but aving an anti-virus with the latest virus updates. Unfortunately, people often forget to update their virus databases, making their machine vulnerable to virus attacks. That’s where VirusScan ASaP comes into the picture. It’s actually a virus-scan service that must be subscribed to over the Internet and uses McAfee technology. The entire installation is done online and is fairly easy, placing an agent on the desktop at the end of it. After subscribing, the company e-mails you a URL from which the service can be installed. The biggest advantage of ASaP is that it does automatic daily updates of the virus database, which are provided directly by the McAfee AVERT lab. If you’ve installed it on several machines on a network, then all machines don’t have to do online updates. One machine can do it and the rest will automatically update from it using peer-to-peer networking. So your machine remains updated at all times. We tested its virus scanning capabilities against a whole range of viruses and it managed to catch all of them. In case it finds an infected file it can’t repair or finds that it’s an unknown virus, it sends it to the AVERT lab to check out. All virus scan reports are shown on the web browser and companies can opt to see the complete reports of all their machines online. Being a tiny utility, it doesn’t hog up system resources.
