WhatsApp Gets In-App Notifications in a New Update for Indian Users

WhatsApp users in India are receiving a new feature. The messaging app will now let users receive in-app notifications. As of now, only iOS users are getting this feature but android users will be getting it soon as well. With the in-app notifications enabled users will be able to send alerts or other notifications in two different methods to users while they have the app opened.

iOS users who have updated their WhatsApp can go to the settings in the app. Once you're in settings you need to go to the notification settings. There you will see the option for In-App Notifications. There you will need to choose your "Alert" method. Right now there are three options available to users that are None, Banners, and Alerts.

Choosing the "Banners" option to get in-app notifications in WhatsApp will let users see a banner at the top of their screens. The banners will go away automatically after a second. Choosing "Alert" for in-app notifications will require action before proceeding. If you choose "None" then you won't get any in-app notifications.

Once WhatsApp across platforms has received this feature, it will let the company send alerts about its new updates. Something similar is also available on Telegram, which is also a messaging app. However, Telegram uses a chatbot to notify its users about its new features and updates. We still haven't received any official word from either WhatsApp or Facebook about this new feature yet.

In related news, WhatsApp is also updating its terms of service for 2021. The news was first seen on WABetaInfo along with the in-app notification news. Users will have the option to agree with these new terms of service that will go into effect from February 2021. If a user is not comfortable with the new terms of service, they can opt-out of it. Doing so however will delete your account from WhatsApp.
