The first thing that you should focus on in Valorant before getting into the mechanics of the game is map knowledge. This directly plays a role in your ability to perform well throughout the map. Simply because as you would expect, knowing where people are going to hold will give you a significant advantage when trying to push into an area and get kills. Although you won't be able to see through walls, expertise and map knowledge can allow you to spot the enemy that much easier.

Let's go over an example in order to make this more clear. Let's say you're pushing onto A short on bind. If you have minimal knowledge regarding the map you may push in blindly. In which case you would be extremely vulnerable from heaven, sight, lamps, and many more angles that you may not even check. However, if you are aware of the common holding angles on every site you will be able to check these angles one by one. When doing this you'll be able to utilize your abilities much more effectively in addition to being able to push in confidence that you won't get shot at from a random area.

Jiggle Peeking

For those of you that don't know jiggle peeking, it's a combination of map knowledge and counter-strafing. Both are fairly advanced mechanics. In order to do this well, you will need to walk up to a corner then walk left or right respectively. Walk the other way for a slight second in order for your character to come to a full stop. This will allow your aim to become much more accurate. In order to add this mechanic into your gameplay, you will need to know the maps well so make sure you completely have that down before you try jiggle peeking.

Assuming you have developed your map knowledge you will need to think of an angle that you want to peak. After that, rather than peaking normally, you will jiggle peak. Ultimately this will result in one major benefit being that you can choose whether you want to take a fight or maybe just run away if you jiggle peek correctly. You should see the enemy for such a short period of time that running away is also an option.

Suprise the Enemy Squad

Surprising the enemy with flanks and varying angles is key to winning gunfights in Valorant. Let's start from the top, flanks. If you're in the right circumstances, that being the enemy pushing A that you aren't currently on while your team is able to stall them with abilities such as smokes. Initiating a flank is key to getting one or two crucial picks. What can be better than spotting the enemy while they're looking away. At that point, the kill is basically on a silver platter handed to you. The part after however is more difficult.

What do you do after you've gotten a kill? Well, if you would like to get more then simply hold an angle and let the enemy push into you. You should never push into the enemy's team after you've gotten a pick in their backline. So either hold back or back off completely and move on to varying angles on the defense. The goal is ultimately the same. You should hold in a way that allows you to see the enemy before they know that you are there.
