Wipro is again the winner this year, followed by HCL at number two. TCS makes a strong showing at number three. Infosys improves its standing by two places, to fourth place this year. Reliance is another newcomer in the list, entering at number six.
The effect of the TCS IPO buzz is fairly evident in the ranking for the second Familiar question. TCS emerged on top here. And this is the only question on which second placed HCL scored ahead of
Wipro.
For new entrant Reliance, familiarity in the context is low.
Of the brands that took a dip from last year, TVSE scored low on Familiarity and Bonding, Satyam scored low on Relevance onwards. NIIT also scored low on Relevance
owards.

Next, a five-step questionnaire was administered using a compounding methodology. That is, five questions were asked for all brands in the same sequence and a brand had to get an affirmative vote in any given stage to qualify for the next, and only those brands that got an affirmative vote in all the five stages were considered for the final ranking. For example, if a respondent answered in the negative to any of the five questions, then that brand was dropped from further consideration for the Brand of the Year awards.
