If you own a graphics card based on nVidia chipsets–Riva TNT, Riva TNT2, GeForce (see README.txt for exact supported chipsets)–then check out the graphics acceleration drivers on this month’s CD . We assume that you have a running X Window system.
To install them change to the directory cdrom/linux/nvidia and install the two RPMs as:
rpm —ivh NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-2313.rh71up.i386.rpm
rpm —ivh NVIDIA_GLX-1.0-2313.i386.rpm
Now open the file XF86Config-4 in a Linux text editor and scroll down to the following Module section. This section starts with the line:
Section “Module”
Remove the following two lines found in this section:
Load “dri”
Load “GLcore”
Scroll down to the following line:
Driver “nv”
This line can be found in the “Device” section of the file. Change this line to:
Driver “nvidia”
Save the file and start X Window using ‘startx’ command. You should be able to see a glimpse of the nVidia logo. In case you face any problem, like distorted display, try rebooting.
