Project
teams will be very familiar with this scenario. You move into a new project
area, and begin the long wait for telephone lines to come in. Those with offices
in areas with a lot of construction work going on may face a similar problem,
when unexpectedly, all telephone lines get cut by someone digging a trench for a
pipeline. In such situations, the possible solutions are to either wait, or go
in for cellphones, if the service is available. But passing around cellphones is
not the easiest thing to do. It’s in such situations that XFCT from Xtend
technologies becomes useful.
Simply put, it’s a small hardware box that sits between an Ericsson
cellphone and your EPABX. Calls coming in on the cellphone can be routed to
individual telephones on the EPABX, and extensions on the EPABX can call outside
numbers through the cellphone. Simple call management features are also
provided. For example, you can limit all outgoing or incoming calls, to use it
as an emergency facility only. You can also preset up to 99 telephone numbers
that can be dialed from any extension by dialing 1, 2, 3, and so on. You can
also set it up to dial one preset number upon the handset being lifted.
Currently it supports only Ericsson cellphones.
