Data centre service providers deploying cloud data applications can take advantage of the optimal data centre bandwidth efficiency and non-stop service availability to ensure service quality for their customers.

The XS3900-48F is a high-density ToR switch with ultra-low latency to enable speedy modularized application deployments for next-generation data centres. The non-blocking switching architecture with forty-eight (48) 10GbE SFP+ ports and four (4) 40GbE QSFP+ uplink ports delivers 1.28 Terabit-per-second switching capacity and 952.4 Megabit-per-second forward ing rate with an additional 9 MB packet buffer. The ultra-low latency on all ports and high network scalability makes the XS3900-48F the ideal choice for Top-of-Rack deployments in data centres.

To address critical switching demands for converged data centre networks, the XS3900-48F ToR Switch offers enhanced management capability of intra-system data trafficking and communication through a Data Centre Bridging (DCB) mechanism with supports to protocols such as Data Centre Bridging Exchange (DCBX), Enhanced Transmission Selection (ETS) and Priority-based Flow Control (PFC).

The switch can identify and communicate with other DCB-enabled network devices through the DCBX protocol, and it also utilizes PFC and ETS to manage pauses and to schedule the priority of different traffics to avoid congestion. This significantly guarantees bandwidth efficiency for critical applications while ensuring unclogged performance and data integrity; these functions are extremely critical for data centre service providers to avoid service interruption or inadequacy.

One of the daunting challenges faced by IT managers or administrators is to maintain an uninterrupted power supply for consumption-critical data centre systems. The XS3900-48F ToR Switch features du al hot-s wappable fan trays and power supply modules; the design ensures non-stop system service with redundancy, availability and reliability. In addition, the XS3900-48F has an outstanding feature called "reversible airflow"; the front-to-rear or rear-to-front airflow adds more flexibility for hot- or cold-aisle deployments.

For next-generation data centre deployments, modularity and flexibility are equally important. The full-feature design of XS3900-48F Switch supports fast, easy rack-by-rack server changes or upgrades, while the top-of-rack cabling architecture not only reduces TCO (total cost of ownership) thanks to shortened cables, but also enables faster deployments and easier scaling for future expansions.

The brand-new ZyXEL XS3900-48F Top-of-Rack Switch is available now. To learn more about the complete features, functions and benefits for cloud data centres and virtualization service deployments.
