A major effect will be made by 240Hz OLED gaming monitors at CES 2023, along with other advances.

Compared to their LED or IPS counterparts, OLED panels often deliver superior picture quality and faster response times, but historically haven't been able to match them in terms of high refresh rates.

There have been some, like the Alienware AW3423DW, which is a QD-OLED display with a refresh rate of 175 Hz; however, ED gaming displays have finally achieved the optimal refresh rate of 240 Hz, which is prized by gamers who specialize in eSports and FPS games.

At the CES 2023 conference, we are aware of several 240Hz OLED displays that will be on display. The Corsair Xeneon Flex, a 45-inch OLED with a curvature that can be customized and priced at $1,999, is one of the more innovative offerings.

Corsair Xenenon Features

Flex include the ability to switch between the flat and 800R curved display modes by squeezing the screen together. This makes the device suitable for both work and play.

You will get that extremely significant 240Hz variable revive rate and a 1440p goal, alongside AMD FreeSync Premium, Nvidia G-Sync similarity, and a zippy 0.03-millisecond reaction time.

LG, Asus, and Dough Monitors Launch

In the meantime, LG will display its 45-inch ultra-wide OLED and 27-inch OLED UltraGear monitors, both of which can be preordered for $1,699 and $999, respectively. Both 1440p 240Hz displays have a response time of 0.03 milliseconds.

In a press release, LG Display also said that these OLED panels will be used in high-end monitors from other brands like Corsair and Asus.

Discussing Asus, we likewise realize that another 27-inch ROG OLED gaming screen will be disclosed during CES 2023, however subtleties for that are thin. A teaser for the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM that was posted to Twitter earlier this month suggests that it will also run at 240 Hz and have a resolution of 1440 p, but there is no word on pricing or when it will be available.

Even though we haven't heard anything about it being shown off at CES 2023, Dough will also use a glossy version of the LG Display OLED panel in its own 27-inch Spectrum OLED monitor that runs at 240Hz and has a resolution of 1440p. Preorders start at $649 if you're willing to take the risk regardless, and delivery is anticipated in July 2023.

Who will standout in crowd?

We are looking forward to seeing what these new gaming monitors can do, but we will still nitpick—literally in this instance. The Corsair Xeneon Flex has a measly average brightness level of 150 nits, while the LG UltraGear OLED displays claim an average brightness level of just 200 nits.

OLED displays are typically dimmer because of the need for power, heat, and the possibility of burn-in. However, if you're accustomed to something like the Samsung Odyssey G9, which typically has a brightness of 420 nits, these displays may feel rather muted.
