A Big deal in God of War Ragnarok's Graphics: Three on PS5, Six on PS4

God of War Ragnarok has already acquired the second highest-rated-game of the year prior to its launch which is all set to launch on November 9.  With getting 94 points, it falls two points short behind the Elden Ring which launched in February this year.

Amid the reviews popping up online, game developer Santa Monica Studio shared an image that indicates that the game has six graphics modes on PlayStation 5 and three on PlayStation 4. Here's why it is a big deal.

Earlier, you just had to fire up the console, load the game and start playing. With a boom in gaming and technology, console makers threw in some extra ingredients allowing players to choose between graphics and performance.

The foundation was apparently laid with the launch of PS4 Pro and Xbox One X console refreshes. The God of War game that came out in 2018 offered a choice of running at 30fps with an upscaled 4K image or 60fps at 1080p and now jump to 2022, we now have six graphics options on PS5 alone that include performance favoring and graphics favoring settings, company reported.

What Option to choose while playing?

Underperformance favoring options, gamers can play in 1440p-2160p at 60fps, 1440p with 60fps (unlocked) + high frame rate (HFR, which requires HDMI 2.1 cable and compatible devices) and at 1440p 60fps + HFR + variable refresh rate (VRR).

The quality favoring options include 2160p at 30fps, 1800p-2160p + HFR at 40fps and 1800p-2160p + HFR + VRR at 40fps.

In PS4, there are three options: one favors performance, the other favors quality and there is a third that offers standard 1080p in 30fps.

However, if you are looking to play the game in its highest detail possible, you can play it in 4K/30fps but you can compromise on quality if it's needed, you can choose an option from the performance graphics list.
